Guys,
I swapped M54B30 engine from 330ci 2002 Sport into my E36. Now my car has been taken to electrician who promised to do all the wiring and get it running. He now calls me with following statements:
1. You need to get EWS disabled otherwise you must use E46 instrument cluster. And of course there is a big charge for this. (I looked at wiring schematic and there is one wire going from starter to E46 cluster - no idea what its doing.)
2. If you don`t disable EWS and wire it in, after you start your car for 31st time, it might not start as EWS changes code and syncs it every 30th start. (this might or not happen, he can`t predict and promise me anything.)
3. You must disable ASC, because your ABS system sends signals this ASC unit can`t read. If you want to have ASC unit present, you must drill new holes and install different ABS sensors. There is a charge for disabling ASC in ECU.
4. If you don`t install ASC, your engine won`t rev past 5500rpm.
My car is E36 1993, with ABS, was M50TUB20.
Is he correct or trying to squeeze me for money?
Is it even possible to disable(not bypass using emulators) EWS from MS43/ews 3.3 I believe? What about ASC? Where ECU is going to get speed from?
As far as I read, installing ASC isn`t big issue - 4 wires in total and works with E36 ABS sensors/system. EWS - I got everything off donor car - ECU, reader, keys, EWS module etc, complete set - don`t see a problem wiring it in. Also - youtube is full of videos where cars are driven with E36 instrument clusters not E46.
P.S. Disabling EWS and ASC would be fantastic, less wires and clutter, cleaner swap.
Thanks guys.
