I've had a persistent coolant leak this week. The light would come on indicating low coolant level, I'd top it off and the light would be on the next morning. So, I worried and eyed under the hood. I saw water on the top of the expansion tank and removed the upper radiator hose and noticed a yellowish looking plastic in the bend and poked it with a small screwdriver that easily went through. Scratching and scrubbing showed this hole.
I can't know whether the hole was a weakness designed in by the manufacturer or a hole that was caused by pressurized hot water. I plan to patch it temporarily with JB weld until I get a replacement hose.
