Best car to look minted under 12k

I loved the E46 because a lot of people didn't know how much a BMW costs and I got all sorts of compliments. A few years later my E46 is starting to look pretty sorry, and people are realizing it's an old beater, and not a newer BMW.

What is the best car to buy under 12k so I can look like I am minted? I want to look like I got a million bucks in the bank account.

I was actually thinking an E-Class or S-Class. What do you reckon?
