My dad bought an E39 a few days ago and the check engine light came on. So i brought my laptop that has inpa and stuff on it so i could read it and clear it. After hooking up the laptop i found that the car was running an ms42 instead of the ms41.1 it was supposed to have. I didn't know it was possible to run the m52 on anything except 41.1. It also does not have cats and passes smog while having bank 1/2 efficiency errors in the hard codes.
Anyone have any idea why and how you would put an ms42 dme into this car?
