Hopefully a stupid question and the answer is simply "bad coil, move along."
Started getting an intermittent cylinder five misfire over the weekend. Pulled the coil and this is what it looked like. Swapped four into five and put a new one in four, misfire resolved. There was also some debris down at the base of the spark plug in five, but no oil...entire tube was dry.
So just a case of a coil going bad and/or overheating and starting to come apart? Didn't want to roast a new coil if there's something else wrong with that cylinder, thus I put the new one in a different position for now. 211k miles, age of coils unknown.
