Fitted a new steering pump and filter pot 4 days ago, test drove the car all was fine , no leaks, no binding while on jack stands etc...However ! today I started the car and could not move the steering wheel at all.
I rechecked the ATF fluid which was on the min mark but it had gone down by a few mls only (I am guessing due to some air still in the system), so I topped it up again to max ...The only other thing was that I got a short beeping sound from the dash ....I took this beeping sound as a black ice warning due to the outside temperature today.
I turned the car off, when and consulted the book , found nothing relating, so went to start the car again, left it on idle for a few minutes and the wheel was free again.
I am confused now, and wondering if there is some sort of cold start electronic item that prevents you from moving the car until the engine warms up ...it makes no sense to me.
