The Time Has Come...
Ok guys, long E46 fanatic here who's about the make the leap and pick up his very first M3. This is an ex California vehicle that has been in British Columbia since 2009 with 100k miles on the clock. I've been over this car with a fine tooth comb and test drove it for about an hour. SMG, although new to me, seemed smooth and not*jerky*in moderate driving mode. Everything works, lights locks, etc. Leather and interior very clean, and the exterior in fabulous condition. Maintenance history showing routine oil changes and misc parts changed. Brakes/tires are new.*
Three concerns I found:
1) There was old dried fluid around the SMG fluid reservoir..fluid smelt ok and was at the right level...maybe old spilt?? SMG primed and shifted well.*
2) passenger window, when opening the door once, the window dips slightly for the top, and if you close the door, it doesn't quite line up properly with the soft top, but if you open the door again and close it, goes up perfectly into place. Repeating this scenario over and over again produced the same outcome. Is this any adjustment issue??*
3)*fuel*cap*cover, the inside lever which release the cover is permanently stuck in the closed position so the cap is flimsy...is this a concern?*
The*serpentine belt*(driving belt) needs replacing as it's showing signs of wear, and the last oil change was done @ Mr. lube by the hosting dealership, and I know Mr.Lube does not stock the appropriate oil for the M3 so it needs an oil change.*
Please chime in...*
Thanks!*
