HVAC Relaction

I just finished installing a double din stereo in my E46. Everything went smoothly until it came time to plug back in my HVAC controls and slide them into the relocation bracket. It just won't fit. Looking at realoem.com, I have the correct relocation bracket. I removed the bracket and tried to install the controls on my bench, just to make sure the cables/wires in the dash weren't allowing the controls to push in all the way. It still would not slide and click into place.



My controls are manual, not automatic though. Is there enough difference between the manual and automatic controls that won't allow my controls to fit in the bracket?
