Cold start, slightly rough idle, and not going forward bmw 330ci 2004

In the mornings or after it sits for a good amount of time, I start the car put it in drive press the accelerator and the rpms go up but virtually no power. It creeps slowly forward gaining speed slowly but surely and eventually the transmission grabs so the car takes off. As the vehicle warms up everything seems to level out and become normal. Seems to be a connection between the vehicle temp and this performance issue. Any input would be appreciated
