So two days ago, my car started making a new noise. Under any sort of acceleration, turning, or both, there is a grinding/scraping coming from the rear. I've looked through numerous articles explaining noises, searched for similar experiences on other forums, but nothing seems to be quite my scenario.
I thought I had a wheel bearing going out not too long ago (making the same noise, just less frequent), but when I took it in to have it repaired they said the axle nut was finger tight, and they tightened it back up and there was no more noises. Personally, I've noticed that whenever you take the pressure off of a sealed bearing (like removing the axle) they tend to go bad shortly after. Around the same time I noticed my axle wasn't in the best shape.
The other day, I jacked the back end of the car up and tried shaking the wheel back and forth to test for a bad wheel bearing on either side, but nothing budged. I learned at this time that my rear shocks were pretty blown out, I was able to pick the wheel up and compress the rear suspension.
From the reading I have been doing, it sounds like this could be a number of worn out parts, such as: bad CV axle, bad wheel bearing, the parking brake shoes could be making noise, or even the tires could be rubbing on the inner fender wells. The car doesn't sit low enough for that to be a problem, I think.
I'm hoping some of you great people could lend me a hand in figuring out where my problem might be. As much as I would love to replace all of the parts that may be in question, I need to narrow it down due to money. I still have the new wheel bearing as well.
