Ok so I drive a bmw e46 325i with 160k miles and an m56 engine. I recently had that whole problem scenario with the elm light on and limp mode etc. so I replaced a lot of parts and did a lot of work. My car would shutter or hold back on acceleration then all of a sudden kick in and rev up and drive. So we replaced the cam sensor and tr problem persisted so I unplugged it just being curious and th problem went away completely this amazed me. The only problem now is a lack of power, barley making it over a hill, and not getting above 4500rpm. But they replaced my cam sensor a again(there offer) and the problem continued just like before so now it's unplugged so I can drive it without going into limp mode. Any suggestions on why a car would work better without this sensor
