Ambient air temperature stability question

I replaced my ambient air temperature sensor and since I don't have the temp display I have to use the 7.1 hidden menu display to monitor it. I notice that the temperature does not stay steady at all when the engine is running and ranges up and down about 3 degrees. The temp during driving is pretty close to ambient (25C) and closer to 33C at idle if sitting driveway but the temp still ranges the 3C. Is that normal for others?
