Bilstein B4's for Factory Sports Suspension - 320d SE Touring

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been trying to line up parts for a suspension refresh on my 320d SE Touring, fitted with factory sports suspension settings (option 226). Therefore, the car is obviously lowered, but not to 'M-Sports Package' level, just 'Sports Suspension Settings'.

I'm trying to find out which Bilstein B4 struts and shocks to buy to replace these to 'OEM' equivalent. The Bilstein catalog lists B4 struts for 'standard chassis' and for 'M-technics', but not the in-between Sports Suspension settings.

The rear shocks are the same part, so thats not really an issue so I'm just worried about getting the 'right part' for the fronts.

When cross-referencing the BMW part number for the BMW sports suspension struts (31316750791/2), Bilstein's parts catalog takes me to the M-technics version. Clearly these are significantly more expensive, and I'm not really interested in gaining a stiffer ride, on a car this age, I just want a consistent, comfortable ride.

I wondered if anyone had any thoughts as to if the 'standard' B4's would cope well enough with 'Sports Suspension Settings' springs - I understand a lot of people buy B4's and lower their cars from standard suspension - does anyone have any opinions on this?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or opinions you might be able to provide!

Dave
