Good Day to you Fellow Enthusiast
I am here in Ontario Canada, at the beginning i have a CEL(check engine
light).I can feel that only 3 cylinders are working.I brought my m3 at a dealer
in mississauga. It is now known as Pfaff Motors. They charge me $450.00 for
nothing.
When i pick it up same situation no improvement except they update my
DME.Meaning CEL still there and misfiring.I was asked to forked out around
$3500.00 more so they can fixed it.The excused was there is no more of
old model ignition coil.
I found out that there were a few parts outlet that sells ignition coils
for my 2001 m3.I bought 3 and replaced them myself. It was not so hard. This was done sometime in march of this year.
Now the fun part, i did some research and follow the instructions so i
get my car to pass emission test.I have an OBD2 and it says it is not ready
cause i could see "C" was flashing.I read somewhere here at e46 Fanatics
the exact thing that i did today Many thanks.
(1) Fuel level must be between 1/4 to 3/4
(2) Car engine must be cold meaning parked at least 8 hours.
(3)Start and idle for between 3 to 5 minutes
(4)Drive car minimum 20 minutes on highway at a speed between 90km/h
and 110km/h or 55mph to 68 mph.
(5)Drive the car at least another 20 minutes in stop and go situation
I approximate it like a 5 or 6 stop sign or stop light.
(6)Just do not exceed 3000 rpm no matter what.Lastly never turn off
the engine while doing this.
*** Instead of 20 minutes on freeway i did 35 minutes.
Thanks again to e46 Fanatics.
