Storage bin (latch) under lights switch

Hi everyone, the latch has failed on storage bin under the light switch on my 2001 330i (right-hand drive). Therefore, the bin remains in the open position ready and waiting for my knees to whack into getting in & out every time.



Can the latch be repaired? Does the lid need to be removed to pull the latch apart or does the lid itself have to be replaced?
