Here in Germany, apparently a blown motor makes your e46 appreciate :

For example,
Look at the e87 for 3.500. Its one of those 116is with a toasted timing chain that wrecked havoc in the top of the motor when it snapped. The car is stripped down with not even heated seats.
However, you can get non-toasted 116is that are recall eligible for less than 1000 more with more options:

Same thing goes for the e46. For example, a 320ci with a blown head gasket they are wanting 4,000 for.
Without a blown head gasket -- 5k

Now if these people knew they were smoking too much weed, it would be ok. I am looking for a car for the GF for the super cheap, and thought "ok, she likes the e87 a lot, she loves the light blue color, and I can drop a N46B20B in for the cheap;

Reflash the DME and the car is good to go for another 200k.
I called the guy up with the e87, told him exactly what happened to his engine, and he confirmed pistons are bent in 1-3 and chunks of a piston came off in 4 and bounced around. I told him it needs a new engine, and sent him an email with links to engines available for exchange, and them showed him fully functional cars with either the recall already done or eligible for less than 1,000 more than his asking price. He asked how much I was offering, I told him I could do 1750 and pick it up on Saturday, he then proceeded to yell at me that he is sick of these calls offing less than 2k for his car, and that it isn't his fault that BMW built a shitty chain (true story) and told me not to call back and hung up.
I then called the get with the Cabrio e46, and it was essentially a repeat process. This guy was nicer, but said essentially he wouldn't budget on his price because the car is clean and only needs a new motor, which is only a couple thousand EUR. :facepalm:
I get forum sluts thinking their cars are something special, but cars with toasted motors -- I just don't understand. Maybe someone could explain this to me?
