I am toying with updating/upgrading the audio system on my E46 M3. I presently have the Harman/Kardon system with no navigation.
I have been looking at the new Pioneer CarPlay compatible decks, but according to the Crutchfield website they won't fit my car. Is it saying this just because my existing unit is single-DIN? I would assume I could just move the climate controls down and remove the storage cubby below them (just as BMW did on the nav-equipped cars). Am I wrong about this?
Also, is there any problem with replacing the head unit on an HK-equipped car? I know some OEM-upgraded factory systems (particularly Bose) sometimes use speakers of different impedance, making it a problem to upgrade.
Thanks for any advice people may have!
