2004 330ci 125,000 miles
Due to North Easter snow storm, my car was street parked for about month or more. On 2/26/14, I started the car to move it to different spot. No issue or warning signs. Two days later I decided to take out the car and started it yellow DSC and BRAKE light stays on. When Side Brake is on BRAKE light is red. When side brake is not engaged BRAKE warning light is yellow.
Initially taking the car around the block, I heard and felt grinding noise. Visually inspected brake pads. Outer pads were alright. I did not took out the rims and checked inner pads. All pads, rotor and brake fluid were replaced about a year ago. Brake fluid was at level.
Drove around for a while, the grinding noise was gone.
After searching around the forum, some people had same yellow DSC and BRAKE lights but the problem was weak alternator and voltage regulator send unstable current through sensors.
Checked voltage using OBC option 9.0 (please someone tell me if this is right way to check voltage)
Voltage
at engine off: 11.5-12
at idle: 14-14.2
at idle w/HID & halogen fog light on: 14
at idle w/HID & halogen fog light on, driver side seat heater on: 13.9-14
driving w/HID & halogen fog light on, driver side seat heater on: 14-14.1
Alternator and battery were never replaced since it came out from the factory in 07/2013.
Planning to take the car to shop next week when weather gets better. Please help me if anyone has any idea.
