Quick history : i bough 3 years ago a 320 td compact. That means diesel engine, which i don't like anymore for several reasons (thought it was a good idea to buy a 'not-too-nice' engine as this was my first car). Also, it has an automatic transmission, which i don't want anymore either. There are also some scratches all over the body as the 1st owner was living in Paris and damaged it a little bit. Nothing obvious, but enough for stopping me spending too much money in it. Last but not least, it lacks some (not too much though) nice options like the sun-roof, which is something i really want now.
The bright side is : it has a marvelous color : Flamencorot (deep red, like wine, quite rare) and Taninrot leather interior (super rare). It also has the GPS MkIV (upgraded afterwards) and the 16:9 widescreen (from factory) which is something i really like, though i don't really care too much about guiding system, my smartphone can do even better nowadays.
So here is the plan : try to find a 325 Ti, manual shifting, sun-roof, possibly with all the options i want : hi-fi system, GPS, 16:9 widescreen, electric rear vents, electric and heated seats, xenon, pdc and of course, no scratch on the body, of any sort, and swap as many things as i can from the 320td (interior, widescreen, MKIV GPS, rims, Xenon, etc). Turns out it's almost impossible to find this beauty.
Straight to the problem : So i'm considering buying a 325 Ti with just a sun-roof, a hi-fi system (as it is specific to E46 compact and very hard to find on 2nd hand market) and a rain sensor (as this cannot be upgraded without changing the windscreen.
GPS-16:9-Hi-Fi system. I thought it would be possible to add a 16:9 widescreen on a "GPS low" (meaning the super small screen with basic characters) which is the one i find in 99% of the cars. But it's not. Seems like i would need to upgrade the whole system : BM54 + GPS + widescreen, plus a specific single harness for Hi-Fi+GPS, which must be ultra rare and costs 450***8364;/600$. Can anyone confirm this ?
Electric seats and memory. As electric seats are quite rare on Compact, i was considering buying electric seats from E46 Coupe. Electric in itself is no problem, but memory seems to be tricky. I assume there is a module coordinating the seats and mirrors position, but i have no idea what's this module's name or location ? Next to the fuse box, in the seat or in the door ?
Electric rear vents. The rear vents of the Compact can be powered up. Once again, it's a super rare factory option, but i'm planning to get it eventually. There once was a retrofit kit sold by BMW, but apparently it's EOL. The mechanism and all the bits and screws are still sold by BMW for around 150***8364;/200$. So the only remaining problem is the harness. Some people says it's factory installed in every 325 Ti, other people says it's not on any Compact, some says it's similar to E46 Coupe's...anyone knows for sure ?
