NOTE:

1. They are genuine, no taiwan or wrapped junk.

2. They WILL have the original bmw part no and logo. scrubbed off the rear, just political bs. No different to when you buy a lemforder bush and it still has metal shavings in the box and the bmw logo scrubbed off.

3. We need 110 sets min to make it happen. That means either 110 sedan or 110 coupe

Talking while driving 5 times more dangerous then texting and driving

It looks like texting while driving being being dangerous, has finally started to sink in. However, a recent survey found that a shift to talking on cell phones while driving may now be even worse. The cell phone in general being the problem, people just can't put them down.



It's usually pretty easy to pick out who's chatting it up on their phone while driving. I'm sure everyone has experienced being cut-off, or passing someone going way to slow in the passing lane, only to look over and they're talking away, oblivious to their surroundings. People get wrapped up in the conversation and driving is the last thing they are thinking about. I guess people figure it's safer to talk since texting was found to be so dangerous. A report by the National Safety Council stated just the opposite. The report showed that 26 percent of all crashes are tied to cell phone use. However, it also stated that just 5 percent involved texting. This report also showed a 1 percent increase in cellphone related accidents over last year.



If we can't learn to put our phone conversations on hold while we are driving, or even just keep them short, laws will certainly be put in place to ban driver use completely. 'Safety advocates are lobbying now for a total ban on driver phone use, pointing to studies that headsets do not reduce drive distraction.' This is probably the best idea in my opinion. What do you think, is it time for a total ban of phones behind the wheel?

2003.5 bmw e46 m3

Time to replace cooling system

The 325Ci looks to be in need of some new cooling parts. The original system toughed it out for 11 years and 123,000 miles. Left my driveway this morning to pick up coolant for my other car and noticed my coolant level indicator turn on for a few seconds so I turned around and went home. Sure enough, the expansion tank was completely empty. I filled it back up with distilled water to see if I can find the leak, my bet is a small crack in the ET. But we shall see.

FS: e46 330i/330ci Dinan long tube intake

I am selling a pretty much new 330i/330ci Dinan long tube intake kit with extra filter. I bought the kit on ebay about 2 weeks ago for $320 and had it on the car for 4 days and drove a total of 30 miles before I got tired of the whistle sound when stepping on the gas which I know is normal. I had to trim an inch off of the edge of the intake mounting bracket so It would not hit the foglight on the bumper, other than that everything is like new. I am selling the kit+extra filter shipped for $300 anywhere in the states. The filter alone costs me $ 58.05 shipped and I am including it with the intake kit. I’ll put up pictures later today.

Fastest way to melt a LOT of ice

We are building a house and the ground was frozen before we were able to get the underground plumbing in and pour the slab in the basement, so a LOT of water has seeped in and frozen since it is just sitting there and the sump pump is not hooked up yet.



No big deal since we haven't been ready to do anything down there until now. I ws planning on just letting mother nature do the job and melt it on its own, but I'm beginning to realize that could take a long time since the basement is always cooler than it is outside and I have 2 feet of ice in the basement.



When the ice starts melting on the top, will it make it melt faster if I keep pumping the melted water off the top or does it not matter? Any other ways to melt this quickly? I tried putting a heater down there, but it doesnt do much since hot air rises and just escapes through the cutout for the basement stairs or the egress window.

Air intake noise. Strange.

I've been getting this strange sound when I rev my engine. I have a 320i e46.

The only way I can describe it is... It sounds like a donkey. Only happens as I rev, once the revs are up the sound goes away.

Instead of the car going: vroom vroom, it goes: haw haw.

It still has power but it's just really annoying.

Please help.

BMW M235i faces off with the MB CLA45 AMG and Subaru WRX STI

BMW has made it in to another Motor Trend comparison, this one being for 300 plus horsepower turbocharged cars, geared toward the enthusiast. This time, it was BMW's M235i that got called upon to show its stuff. The other two cars in the comparison were the 2014 Mercedes Benz CLA45 AMG and the 2015 Subaru WRX STI (Launch Edition).



Obviously there are some differences between these cars, take power for example, the CLA45 puts out a staggering 355 horses from its 2.0 liter engine and utilizes a front biased all-wheel-drive system. The BMW sits in the middle of the three, producing 320 horsepower funneled to the rear wheels. Subaru's STI checks in with the least power of the group at 305, being sent to all four wheels. This wasn't the usual, connect all sorts of measuring devices to the cars and go with the data test, it was how the car actually made them feel. Which really got the heart racing and which was the most fun to drive?



Check out some key points from the comparison:



CLA45



Plain and simple, straight-line speed is the CLA45's signature move. It's classic AMG. However, it's this uncanny, technologically drenched athleticism that makes the front-drive-biased Benz the least emotive -- and least comfortable, thanks to an extra-firm suspension -- on a winding road.



M235i



It's sporty, not mesmerizing. You'll have to option it for glitz. The M's lack of internal fanfare is offset by its clean, handsome physique.



Comprehending the M's character took little effort when hustling among the canyons: a few degrees tilt of the thick helm, a stab of the attentive throttle, one snappy downshift from the eight-speed automatic. Everything's tuned for dynamism. You feel it. You hear it.



The M235i meticulously sliced through the bends, with variable steering that served up an ideal weightiness, albeit with little tactility. "This is a solid-driving car."



Among its two rivals, the M235i was a mid-packer, equaling the STI's and CLA's skidpad performances and barely edging out the STI in acceleration. Its 60-0 braking was the group's best at 103 feet.



"I think it has the worst ride of this group," said Lieberman. "It's sprung softer than the STI and AMG, but it just doesn't eat up bumps as well. Too many secondary motions."

I unbuckled happy, chortling even, for I'd just been flogging a sedan that offers more amenities, equal performance, and, most important, more fun than its pricier German rivals. And, oh, yeah, it has that glorious wing bolted to its trunk. For all this, the WRX STI is our number-one fabricator of fun.

Front speakers are quiet

Hey all. I tried searching and couldn't find anything (but I probably missed the threads). The issue that I'm having is my front speakers sound really weak. There's sound coming out of them, but even when faded fully to the front they aren't very loud. My question is: Are there seperate amps for the different channels or is it a single amp for all speakers?



This is on a 00 328Ci with the HK and business CD.

Mini AAR: Basic Carbine

My last carbine course was in October of 2012. Since that time, I've focused on pistol classes since my pistol skills were severely lacking compared to my accuracy with a carbine. I feel like I'm at a good balance between the two now, so this weekend I went back and took a two day basic carbine class as a refresher. The lead instructor for this class is a SWAT team commander and trainer. I've worked with him privately many times over the last year and a half and I really like his style. He's laid back and funny, but when it's time to work he's all business. This was the first "formal" class with him though. The class was great, and te training and instruction were right on par with what we had done privately.

Overall impressions:

• My accuracy didn't drop off even though it's been a long time since I've done anything with a carbine. In fact, I think it's gotten better. I attribute this to the many pistol classes. This made me happy, since I consciously stopped doing work with my carbine to focus on pistol. My reloads were still fast and on point, buy my malfunction fixes need a lot of work. I mind f@cked myself a few times, so I'll need to start working on that again.
  
  
  


• The class included a wide range of students: a shooter with an AR right out of the box, IDPA shooters, LEO, former military, and a couple of regular guys. Everyone kept asking if I was LEO or military/former military. I get asked that a lot, I assume it's because I shave my head or my build. They seemed surprised that I work for a bank. :dunno:
  
  
  


• I've now taken two classes in a row with rain. I really don't like the phrase "we ain't trainin' unless it's rainin". That's crap. Give me 65 degrees and sunny.
  
  
  


• We had a few gear failures. One KAC carbine wouldn't drop pmags. The student had to switch to metal mags. That same student's gear was all top of the line. It's a shame that after lubing the BCG on the line, I had to help him because he was inserting it backwards into the upper receiver. There was also an Eotech 516 that seemed to crap the bed every other drill. I was surprised to see quite a few of the older model Eotechs. I guess because they are relatively inexpensive now. All newer model Eotechs and Aimpoints were fine.
  
  
  


• Due to the overall competency level of the students, we progressed very quickly. In fact, we were done with the typical day one plan right after lunch. We moved into day two drills for the rest of the day until the rain really started coming down. At that point we moved back under a shelter and practiced 200y offhand shots at 12"x12" steel plate. I never thought about doing that with an unmagnified red dot, but we all did it. After we all hit it standing, we went prone to finish out our mags.
  
  
  


• The instructors rewrote the plan for day two, and we focused on drills and movement for the entire day. We even incorporated transitions to pistol, which no one was expecting coming into the class. I'm glad I brought pistol ammo just in case. Day two morphed into an intermediate class.
  
  
  


• My gear worked as expected with no issues, even my Eotech. ;)
  
  
  


• The instructors nicknamed me "Dragonboy" due to the fireball from the combination of SBR and Battlecomp. They got an awesome picture of me shooting from urban prone under a barrier, with the flame enveloping the entire underside. Once they email it to me I'll post it.
  
  
  


• The instructors messed with me and another student, adding additional stress to the drills. For example, during a reload drill one walked up behind me and held onto my mag pouch so that I couldn't remove my primary magazine. After two tugs, I switched to the secondary magazine, it pulled free, I reloaded, and continued on with the drill. They would also push against us or stand right up next to us. I appreciated what they were doing, and it felt good that they had the confidence in us to do that.

I would really like to see people take these classes in what they would normally wear (especially civilians). If I take a pistol class, weather permitting, I'm in shorts or pants and a t-shirt with my holster and one mag pouch and then I stuff additional mags in my pockets. That's what I wear every day, so that's how I'm going to train. In my last advanced pistol class a guy had seven magazine pouches around his waist, knee pads, and body armor. He's not LEO or military. He does technology work at a hotel. As one instructor said "If you are going to dress like an operator, you better damn well shoot like an operator". I realize that carbine classes are a bit different as most civilians don't walk around with an AR. In this class I wore my battle belt with jeans and a t-shirt. Chances are that if I have an AR on me, SHTF so throwing on a battle belt wouldn't be out of the ordinary. However, I just don't think it's necessary to play dress up and go all GIJoe, especially if that's not how you dress every day.

Yes, another driveline/CSB thread.

I bought the xi with this existing issue.

When I first take off from a stop I get this loud thumping from the driveline tunnel area. It sounds similar to cv joints that are about to go out.



The strange thing is that it only happens at low rpm and disappears by the time it upshifts into second. No other shaking or noise after that, no matter how fast I go.



I would have guessed that its the CSB but other peoples experiences with bad csb's seem to be a little different.



So I'm wondering, could a bad ujoint make all this racket at first and then go away as you accelerate? Maybe a seriously shot guibo?



Anyone have this issue before?

Central dome lights

Guys, I have a problem.



The previous owner of my car had taken out the readling lights(map lights) from the front central dome lighting. Big deal! However, when they had put it back, they put it backwards i.e, the buttons are now closer to the windscreen.



The problem is now how to take off the dome? The clips are now on the other side, and it looks like the celing's trim and lining will be torn off if I forced it out.



Has anyone got any ideas!?

SMG- car shifts to neutral while driving

Can some please help figure out this problem. I just bought the car 2 days ago with 125,000 miles on it. Dealer said the car is in perfect running condition. So, I did not buy any warranty knowing that the car is in good shape. Service engine light goes off and gearbox light goes on too. Then it jumped to neutral while driving. Very scary...pulled over to the side of the road them turned the car off the tried to start it. Car started but won't go into gear. Decided to wiggle the salmon relay and car started and went on gear. Do you think it's the salmon relay or I have a bad SMG pump?

Recommendations for a school for MBA?

I recently graduated from University of Phoenix (online). I know that University of Phoenix does not have exactly the best reputation for being a "good or respectable school." Basically, I would like to pursue my MBA elsewhere so that I can sort of put University of Phoenix behind me.



I had a 3.68 GPA in my Associates program and a 3.08 GPA in my Bachelors program. What schools should I look at? I would prefer either California or the East coast. My brother is doing his Masters at Northeastern University (in Boston) and will graduate in June. Is Northeastern a good school for an MBA? What about LMU (Loyola Marymount University)?



Lastly, does anyone know anything about INSEAD? They have an Abu Dhabi campus and from what I've read, this university is ranked as the best business school outside of the US.

I want to get some new LED lighting for my Royal Blue 2001 330Ci's interior as the drivers side light is about as bright as a kids toy that you get from mickey d's.

I was looking at some different manuf websites but I am confused. I either want to go with bright white or a blue tint.

I know LED is the way I want to go as they last a lot longer and are much brighter (got a 300 lumen led flashlight that kicks some fing ass). Most of the manuf's are from china and are cheap as all heck.

I don't want to put something in my car that will catch an electrical fire.

Throttle hang

Hey guys so i'm having a little trouble finding this problem and would like some input



When i'm driving and let off the gas the throttle hangs for a bit, the car is still on the throttle at the same % i last had it at for about 1-2 seconds. Its a little bit sketchy feeling



The car is a 2002 325xi. The engine was just replaced with a 330i engine and alot of maintenance was done in the process. I didn't have this problem with the old engine at all. I had the correct software for the DME installed already.



I am getting p1071 and p1074 ( if i recalled the numbers correctly ) for banks 1 and 2 too lean. I have not diagnosed the problem for that yet and i'm wondering if they are related at all.

CCV hose to the dip stick

A few vacuum lines around the engine that were brittle

:hi: Just bought myself a 320 ci and very happy! So I thought I would join here as when googling some niggling problems on my car this site had some of the best answers and best DYI how-to's.



The main issue I have at the moment is that the drivers side door on my coupe doesnt drop to allow the window to pass the trim when opening the door which is incredibly frustrating!



I understand that this problem has come up on this forum a couple times but my cars symptoms (so to speak) are slightly different so I thought, for piece of mind, I would ask you all :-)



Syptoms:

- Door doesnt drop (unless after a really cold night, has only happened twice in the month i have had the car)

- The instrument doesnt register that the door is open (unless after a really cold night, has only happened twice in the month i have had the car)

- the drivers door never unlocks when using the keys remote

- the drivers door very rarely locks using the keys remote

- the drivers door always locks when the passanger door is open using the keys remote.



very confusing on some of those points :-/



After doing some research I thought/think it may be the drivers door actuator as I can hear it trying to move the doors locking pin. Tahe forum said that the best way to test or fix it would be put a load of WD40 in there and hope for the best...

I have now bought an actuator for the door but while thinking about it... if the instument doesnt say the door is open then whether the actuator was working or not would the door still drop?

My check engine light was coming on and off in the last two months and now it pretty much stays on. I think the last two times I got a full tank of gas, the CEL cleared for a day or so and then came back. Also, there was one time when it came on a aggressive/tight left turn that I did. Not sure if this is related to CEL, though.



Any ideas of whats going on here? Not sure if these codes are more of a cascade effect of something else that is happening. Or all of these are pretty straight forward of what needs to be replaced/fixed? Here are the codes/report from OBDLink SX Scan Tool:

Sometimes it is very low(when i start to relasing pedal it grabs immediately) and sometimes and most of the time very high( i can almost relase pedal before start grabbing). Style 261 off of a 135i 18x7.5 +49 (front) 18x8.5 +52 (rear). Tires are Potenza RE050A run flats. 245 35 18 and 215 40 18 with about 500 miles on them. TPMS included from a 2010. Ecu dme problem... GT1 and progmann?

So I have bee lurking and reading for a while. Without getting into the specifics of what has led to me where I am (saving that for a very detailed post), I would like to ask a question to those of you who have used the above mentioned programs or others. I ordered all the required programs and hardware and I am waiting for them to arrive.



I am thinking my ecu is bad, software scrambled or something. Will the above programs and the required hardware allow me to reflash my ecu or is it replacement time??? The car is a 2000 323ci with a constant p0601 trouble code.

Last Open Recall (E46 M3 Programming) has been completed about 3k miles ago by BMW of Sudbury; which is one of the best factory authorized BMW dealerships in Massachusetts. They top off all fluids and check tire pressures.



Multi-Point Inspection/PPI:



BMW of Sudbury has also completed an ASR Pro Multi-Point Inspection/PPI once they completed the Recall.



BMW “Recommends” both A/C and Drive Belts replaced and a Brake Flush. The dealership quoted me about $450 before taxes. These are dealership prices and you can get an Independent BMW Shop to do this for probably half. This is a very SMALL price to pay for the adrenaline rush of 333HP with the top down.
