Just curious how you are supposed to know if the a/c or drive belt tension mechanisms are bad. I know you can diagnose pulleys by rotating them and seeing if they make noise or are not smooth and so forth. But what about say the hydraulic tensioner itself or the a/c one.
Is it as simple as a mileage interval or is there some sort of visual or mechanical test you can do?

What are the symptoms of a bad tension mechanism? (read: NOT the pulley)
