They put in a new Bosch brand alternator to replace the old OEM (which I don't know the brand was) for the first time. In the first picture, there is this plastic cooling duct at the rear of the alternator that a loose pipe connects to for air, ( I believe the cooling duct was there with the prior alternator). The problem is the the pipe is situated next to the belts and there is a large torn hole (see picture #2) that is about 2 inch in diameter.
It might have been shredded by the belts while spinning or broken over time, I don't know. But I did knudged the pipe and it does move a lot to the point of touching the belts. Where does this pipe connect to at the other end, as I can't see from above? It seems to be safe for the last couple of weeks to drive in this condition as no lights came on. Also, I've been getting lots of whirlring sound from the engine compartment, maybe it's this leaking hose whistling?
Thanks
