2002 330xi clutch problem?

Hi all, car is a 2002 330xi. I just tried putting the car into gear and the gears will not grab what so ever. I can hear the gears switching and i even let off the clutch while the car was in gear and it hasnt stalled out.... So im
assuming its the clutch??? Worst case scenerio... Transmission?

Seemed pretty straight forward.

Turn key, everything powers up but the car won't start.

I replace engine on 2004 325i. I connected all electrical and hoses. I reused intake, altnator, power sterring, compressor. Now when i crank the car it idles rough between 800 and 1200 rpms and no accelration. Eml light on. What do i need to do?

Okay, lets cut to the chase. So yesterday I replaced both front brake pads and such because the rotors are in pretty damn good shape.

Turn the damn thing on and I have a red brake light, yellow ABS, and the ABS off button all turned on. To top it off- the damn speedometer isn't even working now. The RPM gauge works but the needle that tracks speed itself doesn't budge. :facepalm:

The car runs fine! I'm thinking It's due to the brake sensor having to be replaced on the left wheel well...

what are you guys thinking, I hate having my dash looking like a christmas tree.:thumbdwn:

My sister just graduated college a few months ago, and has been on the job hunt since. She just had a phone interview that went very well and has a face to face interview next week. I feel that the company is low balling her as far as salary. I've worked for my father when I was younger, and have been self employed for years now so I have no experience with this. E46 N42 Engine Rattle (Video Included)

Hi all, Great forum you have here and an unbelievable wealth of knowledge, so hope someone can help me out.

Basically, I have a 2004 318i with the N42 engine, which has recently developed a horrible diesel like rattle. I have scoured the internet look at various videos etc but have yet to find the source of the problem. Car starts fine, idles good, drives well and has no EMS lights on the dash.

I have posted a video of the engine from today, video starts about 10 seconds I started the engine from cold and is left on for the duration. Obviously I have cut the video to an appropriate size so as not to bore everyone!

I have tried disconnecting the Vanos, which did nothing. I have tried disconnected the MAF, again, nothing. It is probably worth noting as well that, I discovered a small oil leak on the vacuum pump behind the engine and yesterday I disconnected the air inlet(Airbox, MAF, tubes, everything!! leaving the throttle body open to air) for a few seconds whilst the car was idling and the noise disappeared. Then today, I took the air filter off and created a sort of restriction to the air entering the engine with my fingers (if that makes sense!?) and again the rattle disappeared!

Finally once the engine is 2.5K RPM + the noise is not audible.

If anyone has any tips or any information that will help me I would be very greatful.

05 325ci Convert. worth??

Hey All,
I'm new to the Bmw world, an Audi guy here. Sister has had three in the past and seemed to like them. I am most likely sealing the deal on an 05 3-series Cab sometime in the near future. Just like to get some input from y'all.

Its a friend of a friends car, She is in her mid 60's, and she bought the car in 2007 with just under 30k on it. She says that it has been very well taken care(except minor mishap from flying road debris on hood) of with all records of everything she has done on it. New tires as of last year, Has xenons and harmon radio. She states no problems with the car and all she is waiting for is the right soft top convertible to catch her eye, she's going to look at an Audi A5 Cab tonight. She states that she is just comfortable trading it in. So I'm wondering what would be a good deal for something like this price point wise. I suspect she will get anywhere from 4k-5k for trade in for it? Love to get it for trade in value but I think id have to give her a little more.
Also anything to pay attention to or to look for before buying it.

Just posting up since I'm a new member here.

Long time E36M and S54 implanter, just never really cared for the E46 body style since was so big and round...now that an 03 325i has been given to me. I suppose I'm becoming partial.

Will be looking into changing out this M-series block for one of the spare S54s I have that are meant for my E36. After doing some reading up on here and finally joining to make use of the pics...looks like I'll just be S54 swapping this car as well. Really seems like a no-brainer.

Turner Motorsport Finishes Strong at Lime Rock Park Northeast Grand Prix

Dane Cameron and Michael Marsal, driving the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW Z4, scored BMW’s first GTD class victory of the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season at Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn. The duo completed 162 laps of the 1.5-mile, 7-turn road course (the race utilized the uphill chicane) in the two-hour-and-forty-minute race, finishing 3.505 seconds ahead of the No. 33 Dodge Viper of Jeroen Bleekemolen and Ben Keating.

Turner Motorsport came very close to not making the start after a practice crash on Friday by Marsal made for a late night and even earlier morning of repair work by the crew at a local body shop. Missing the qualifying session, Marsal started at the rear of the 17-car field composed of PC and GTD cars. He drove a strong first stint to stay on the lead lap before handing off to Dane Cameron, the 2014 GTD driver’s champion, who was available to drive this weekend because the DP class he races this season was not part of the event. Cameron moved into the class lead on lap 105 and stayed out front to take the checkered flag on lap 162 for Turner Motorsport’s first win of the season. The Californian set a new race record with the fast lap of the race (53.695 seconds) on lap 79.



Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge

After the green flag waved in Saturday’s two-hour Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn. it took only 59 seconds for the first caution period to occur. Unfortunately, the cause was contact to the rear of Ashley Freiberg’s No. 46 BMW M3 in the middle of Grand Sport class competitor scrum that forced her on the wet grass, then into and almost over the turn four tire wall. For the second consecutive race BMW Motorsport driver Trent Hindman was unable to drive.

Bill Auberlen, making a guest drive in the No. 21 Burton Racing BMW 128i with BMW Team RLL teammate John Edwards, started from the eighth position. He quickly jumped to third after the restart, but dropped back almost as quickly as a suspected broken front sway bar crippled his progress around the 1.5-mile, 7-turn bull ring. Edwards took over the struggle on lap 61 with some 50 minutes remaining, ultimately finishing 22nd.

Bimmerworld Racing finished sixth and ninth in the Street Tuner class with Nos. 84 and 81 BMW 328i respectively to be the highest finishing BMWs in the race. The race was won by 2004 Formula BMW USA Junior Billy Johnson (US), driving a Ford Shelby GT350R-C.

All TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge classes will next be in action at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wis., on August 8 - 9.

What Ignition coils come stock on 2005 330 XI?

I bought a used 2005 330 Xi and it's having misfiring problems
.
The BMW dealership ran the codes and said its the ignition coils.
I'm thinking otherwise because they are BOSCH and I heard for a while BMWs were being stocked with Bremi.
I'm having a hard time believing its the coils so I was curious what normally comes stock on a 2005 330 XI?

I hate this stupid Volvo.

To swap out the radiator (which randomly decides to split open internally and leak coolant everywhere), you have to remove the front bumper, remove all turbo hardware, remove AC compressor, remove AC lines, unbolt a bunch of other stuff up top, raise the car up at least 3'0", unbolt more stuff from the underneath, then drop the radiator out the bottom. Then you have to put everything back.

The seal on the fuel cap will dry out, crack, and flatten, throwing a check engine light. In order to fix this, you have to either get a new fuel cap or get the separate parts. The OEM fuel cap is at least $25 from eBay and at least $35 from other sources. For the individual parts, it's $5.00 for a new seal and $5.00 on a new tether that holds the fuel cap in place. Also, the fuel door hinge has a tendency to break, causing the door to flop around like a mentally handicapped eel out of water, so that's another $8.00 in parts to fix.

Did I tell you about how important it is to be extra gentle with the headlight adjustment screws? If you're not, they'll get off track inside the headlight housing, causing the headlight to point way off to the right and way up towards the sky. The only way to fix it is to bake the headlights open and hope you don't break anything in the process. As an added bonus, you have to take the front bumper loose to remove the headlights.

I'm setting this Swedish piece of shit on fire and getting an E34 wagon.

Newbie. '04 M3 vert

Hi all.
I've been lurking for a long time, and just recently pulled the trigger on an '04 M3 vert. Back when the M3s were new I lusted after them, and I decided that it was time to pull the trigger on one. It took a little over 8 months to find the 'right' one, but here we are. It's silver, M6, 45.2K on the odo. I'm the 3rd owner, the first 2 kept ridiculous care of the car. The outside is nearly perfect, there's barely a mark on it. The inside shows the usual wear items and creaky plastic, but those will be attended to. This is my first convertible.
My last car was a '92 Mitsubishi VR-4 that I had modified to run a best of 12.2@114 at 5800'. That car was a lot of fun, and now it's time to have another car to obsess over.
This forum is a fantastic resource, I look forward to hanging out here.

This time last year (almost to the day) I purchased an amazing Steel Grey 6 speed Manual E46 M3 from a fellow forum member.
He had personally imported the vehicle from the UK 2 years prior and had extensive knowledge of the previous owners.

It has been a dream vehicle for the period of my ownership & is ONLY for sale because last week I purchased an E92 M3.

I’d love to keep the both of them however parking limitations that come with living in the city make it near on impossible.

In my 12 months of ownership I have fitted:
Brand new tyres - Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 (5000kms ago)

Faults with this car:

Rego is due on the 28th of August 2015, currently registered in NSW.

The driver’s door seal is in average condition.
It has always been like this and I refused to pay $450 for a new one!
It causes no issue!

The rear parking sensors don't work and never have since I bought it. I am pretty certain it’s just a loose connector at one of the sensors however I just haven’t gotten around to fixing it.

The gear knob is showing signs of wear however I have purchased one to replace it that is in VERY good condition; this will be included in the sale.

All in all this is a brilliant M3 that has a very comprehensive history file.
It's an awesome colour and is in immaculate condition for the age.

I am open to offers above 25K, I realise that it is an imported vehicle however it is immaculately kept, has low kms for its age, is a true manual and has a brilliant service history with no expense spared.

I live in Surry Hills, Sydney and I am available most days if anyone is interested in viewing the vehicle.
