Preface lift 325i Alarm setup question

So I'm just picked up a sweet deal 325i and love the car. But I would love to have an alarm or some kind of notification that I'm locking unlocking the car instead of watching the interior lights dim on/off. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I get the whole kit or is there another way to have a notification? Thanks
