Overheating after water pump replacement

Hi guys,

just have a quick question. just worried that my mechanic screwed something up and would like to know what you guys think the worst case scenario could be. I have an Automatic 2004 BMW 325Ci with roughly 103k miles.

Just had a mechanic replace my water pump because the bearing was about to fail. I test drove the car after he installed it for about 5 minutes and everything was fine. About 5-6 hours later I took the car out to go somewhere 30 minutes away and about 5-10 minutes into driving the car the engine temperature went completely to the right (over heating). I immediately pulled over, let the engine cool and luckily I was still very close to home (I had to turn around because a road was closed) and drove the car home.

After reading through the forums, I'm praying that the coolant wasn't bled properly and that there are air bubbles.

It's raining really hard right now and its late in the night so I'll call the mechanic in the morning and check out the car in the morning.

I'm just really worried that there is a bigger problem. Besides not being bled properly is there anything that the mechanic did that could've of screwed up the car? I never had overheating issues prior to replacing the water pump.

Thanks for the help!
