Hello guys
Because im out of ideas, i decided to make a thread here .
Car : e46 325i Sport Wagon with Steptronic (ZF transmission, not GM!!)
I have problem with my car since summer 2014. I cant remember when it started but when im idling with foot on brake and transmission is in gear (reverse or drive) i feel very strong vibration. Whole car is shaking and i can hear and feel vibration thru steering wheel, seat, dashboard. Even exhaust is vibrating like mad. Random parts from engine bay are vibrating too causing weird sounds + most noticable is that "bassy" sound, like 10hz subbas from subwoofer.
When i put car to Neutral, vibration dissapear but its still present but i cant feel it that much. I own this car for 4+ years, its well serviced and almost all is brand new.
Im pretty sure its not normal because in past 3.5 year of my ownership, car was SMOOTH whole time. Sometime i forget that its started and i tried to crank it gain. My idle was always 550 and i was able to put coin on valve cover and it stayed in same position and didnt dropped. Now, the whole engine is vibrating, its visible on hoses behind MAF, they are shaking in regular "pattern". So its not missfire but constat vibration in same "rhytm".
Vibrations aren`t always the "same". Sometime, i cant feel it and car is smooth, sometime its vibrating like crazy, another day its vibrating but its much more softer and other thay im going to jump from the car and my rear view mirrors are shaking so i assume that this is causing by something and its not pernament problem. Most noticable when its cold outside. When engine is warm, vibrations are still there BUT much softer and less noticable.
Only one error stored in my ECU is exhaust camshaft sensor. There is error saying that "intermittent signal" but its random error. 1 week its ok and then few days is stored in ECU when i erase error memeroy but car is running fine. And i dont think that CPS can cause so much vibration when its going bad.
I had car on jack in friend`s garage for few times and amazing fact is that even when car is in the D or R, engine is vibrating BUT transmission body is silky smooth. I was in the car with foot on brake and my friend (mechanic) put hand on transmission and there was ZERO vibrations. We even disconnected transmission from mounts but vibration persist.
So when car is vibrating, its casued by engine and then by exahust.
I replaced :
1. spark plugs
2. engine mounts (lemforder)
3. transmission mounts (lemforder)
4. VANOS seals - Beisan
5. VCG
6. MAF
7. Hoses behind MAF
I checked :
1. coils - ok
2. hoses - brand new, no leaks
3. cleaned icv, tb and maf
4. transmission - no slipping, gears are smooth even when its winter and cold outside
5. gas mileage - ok
6. DISA - ok
