Had poor power, hesitation, bucking, power surges, all that BS after I did a vanos seals repair - while in the process of changing head gasket - so this is what I've done to try and solve the issue...
changed my auto trans fluid and filter - helped
Put in new cam sensors - helped a lot
Car wouldn't start the next day, got a crank position sensor code, changed that out - helped a lot
Notice how none of this actually solved the issue, so I'm down to my last idea. Flash the DME.
Car shifts smoother, gets much better gas mileage, and no more power surges at idle. But it still drives like its heavy and always seems like shifts early. Once I get up to 3k RPM you can feel the weight come off the trans. There's also a rattle from under the car when at idle and a noticeable engine rumble at idle, like a diesel almost.
The saga continues, ill update after the flash for anyone else who might be having this same issue.
