After a valve cover seal replacement, the oil separator hose to valve cover was broken. I've been reading the DIY: CCV, DISA, ICV, Oil Separator by Nicker and it seems like a big job - someone on bimmerfest rated it 7-8/10 for difficulty. Is this accurate? I'm strapped for time (new baby) and I haven't done many DIY on cars.
The other question is, since not much has been replaced on this 2004 325xi, what else should I do when I have everything pulled apart? What is likely to fail? I am in an extreme climate (-40 to +40 C) here in Ottawa, Canada.
It is now taped together with electrical tape.. I'm going to change that to duct tape until I get the parts and time. Any suggestions on a better patch job? Hose + clams? How vital is this hose? I would assume it's fumes and oil going through it?
Thanks in advance,
Liam
