Taping grinding noise and top stopped working

Hi all.

I just picked up a 2004 325ci on Saturday. Love the car.

This morning as I was putting the top down, it got to 99% and I heard a tap tap tap sound and the down light started flashing.

Pushing up or down gave me the same sound.

Got out and noticed the horse shoe was opened just a hair . pushed it down and one side clicked.

Now the up side doesn't make the sound but the red light is still flashing. The up button still makes that sound and the top won't go up.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
