Last year the engine of my 2003 model 318D broke and the guy that changed it supposedly also changed the clutch. But after 9 months and 13.000 kilometers the clutch has started to slip already.
His excuse is, "it's an old car, there's probably oil leakage".
Does this make any sense? I asked a 'neutral' expert from the insurance company and he says if he hadn't installed it properly it would have broken a lot sooner. But my suspicion is that he didn't even change the clutch.
My options are letting the clutch change at that same person and if the expert says the clutch hasn't been changed, it should be changed free of charge.
Or changing the clutch somewhere else (for a lot cheaper and more trustworthy) but then it would be harder to sue if it turned out the clutch wasn't changed.
The other reason why I don't want to get it changed at same person is, when the car broke down he promised to get it fixed for about 2000***8364; (1500***8364; engine - 500***8364; work). And we insisted multiple times that nothing should be done if the costs exceeded ±2000***8364;. Because the car was worth about 4000***8364; anyway. But without asking he supposedly also changed the fuel pump, water pump, clutch, belts,... and asked a whopping 4500***8364;!
Back then we didn't know what to do and we couldn't just leave the car in his hands, so I had to pay. I payed by lending from family and friends, which I still haven't been able to pay back fully..
