Hey guys, my best friends wife has passed away just over a week ago and he has the following questions. I'll first give some basic info;
- Wife has two childen who's biological father lives somewhere else
- Wife has around 10k in credit card bills so my friend is slowly closing them. Is there any obligation for him to pay any of them? The woman at the bank told him that he does not need to but the debt collectors might be calling him
- The bank told him tha the cannot take any money from her account since it's only under her name and he is not the beficiary
- Since she really has no assests since everything of hers is now his, the company cannot take anything from him, right?
- She also has studnet loans from "The Green Lakes" which we're not sure is a private company (most likely it is) so would he be responsible for her loans?
Second issue is with that of the step-son. The step-daughter is going to live the biological father. The step-son is 15 and the only reason the biological father wants him is for the insurance money. The biological father went to court twice before to STOP paying child support and was never there for the childen. How can my friend go about to making sure the step-son is his in court.
