I borrowed my dads truck and lent him my 01 330ci w/ 145k miles. The day i lent out my car i put on the metal brace that that holds the battery in place with my one and only remaining bolt. bad move, stupid move lucky my dad wasn't seriously injured. . :banghead::banghead:
While driving my dad said my car suddenly lost all power on the freeway after hitting a bump. He said the car started after and made it home however it ran a bit rough and was jerking around slightly, randomly..almost like running out of gas.
I come home a few days later and check the battery, the metal battery brace was in contact with the battery and the red positive connector cable. On the cable there's some burn marks and a little bit of bare wire exposed underneath the black plastic on the + connector other than that the connection is fine. Battery seems to work fine, there's no loss of electronic power, headlights work fine etc.
I tried to fire the car up and the ignition wouldn't start it just kept going, I tried to jump the car just in case with no luck.
This might be relevant, so my car had about 1/8th of a tank of gas about a month ago and it suddenly died ran out of gas. Either my gauge is broken, or could it be the fuel pump?
Any ideas? I'm so lost.. No check engine light, no electronic problems. Car sounds mechanically fine while cranking the ignition, but it just won't start.
Thanks guys.
