Last week my car was wrecked by an unlicensed driver (thankfully driving an insured car that belonged to someone else) who turned directly into my lane while I was making a right turn. Just got the news that it was being totaled a day or two ago and got a roughly $11k settlement check from insurance for my '03 330Ci.
Now I'm in the market for another E46 330, ideally another coupe because I'm impractical like that. Since the settlement was pretty generous, I figure I might as well take this opportunity to upgrade to an '04 or '05, but I'm wondering whether it's actually worth it to take the time to hunt down a ZHP. Most of the reasonably priced examples I can find wouldn't require much out of pocket expense, but the best of them are all 200-300 miles away.
So, what do you all think? Is hunting down a ZHP actually worth the time and effort, not to mention the rental car costs while I extend my car search? Has anyone here owned a ZHP and non-ZHP 330Ci for comparison? Let's assume I don't care about aesthetic differences all that much and that I'm mostly concerned about whether it's functionally a better car.
