Just putting this out there and wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I have a 2000 323ci, 5 speed manual, 135,000 miles, decent shape and regularly maintained.
For the 2nd time in 2 1/2 years, I had an electrical fire at the resistor near to the radiator and fan, passenger side. Luckily, this falls under liability so my insurance has covered this. My mechanic is puzzled as to why this has happened. He mentioned that the faulty part generates a lot of heat, but it shouldn't catch fire. Any info would be appreciated.
