Sloppy feeling automatic shifter.....

This may be a matter of "the car is old deal with it" but unlike other old cars and new cars i've been in, i feel like my automatic shifter itself is sloppy feeling. I.E. I can wiggle it around like there is play in it. Not alot of play, but more then i feel like there should be. It's clearly in the shifter area in the car because with the dash trim off i can see it's "loose" in there, and it's not the knob moving around, it's in all that linkage under the trim.



So my question is, is there something i can adjust, or a bushing i can replace to take up some of the slop?
