Hi guys, so my 2001 E46 with 199,6xx miles has decided to blow a head gasket, and since I've wanted to put Loctite on my oil pump nut and change my oil pan gasket, it seemed like a good idea at this stage to check all my tolerances and replace any wear parts I could get to while both ends were removed from the block.
So I've been doing a lot of research, and feel like I won't have any problems with doing the rod bearings or rings. The one part I can't find anything on is changing the main bearings on the crank. Does anyone know where I can find a write up for replacing the main bearings on this engine or if it's even worth it? It seems kind of counterproductive to me to go that far in and not replace them too.
So in short, if anyone can offer advice on this or point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. I'm confident in my ability doing this job, but I'd love it if I want going in blind. Thanks in advance guys!
